At the Dressage Forum held on January 25 in conjunction with the Awards Banquet, there was discussion regarding whether or not to include results for those MHSA members who compete in the Championship Classes held at the Regional Championships each fall. Because these classes are not open to everyone, but only to those who have qualified during that show year, scores from this class have not counted toward a year-end award. But it was felt that these classes, which are exclusive, are no more exclusive than Maiden, Novice or Limit classes, which do count for year-end awards.
Therefore, the Dressage Forum suggests that there be an extraordinary rule change to take effect in 2014 to allow these scores to count. This rule would change the last sentence of Part III, Section 3, Point 3 to read: “These scores can be earned in open, adult amateur,…Maiden Rider, Opportunity, and Regional Championship classes.”
If this rule change is approved by the Board at their meeting on March 17, 2014, it will go into effect for the 2014 show season.
